APN consists of the Retirement Village for those who are active and healthy, Bauman House
caters for those requiring more care, but who are still healthy and the Care Centre caters for the frail.
Retirement Village
The village is dotted with beautiful gardens, trees, many birds and friendly people. The roads allow residents to go for walks in the safety of the property.
The Retirement Village caters for the active retiree and consists of: –
– 14 one bedroomed cottages
– 28 two bedroomed cottages
– Lock up garages for most units
The cottages are available on a Life Right basis. Cottage residents must be self-sufficient when taking up a Life Right. When cottage residents are no longer able to maintain themselves in their cottage, they take up their Life Right in the Care Centre free of charge, until the end of their life.
Each cottage resident has the use of a remote panic button which can be used to call for assistance from either the nursing staff, or if need be, security.
A welcoming dining room, with many windows is where residents enjoy their healthy lunchtime meal every day. Small round tables ensure a homely atmosphere and residents enjoy meeting up here with friends every day.
Levies include the lunch time meal in the dining room, weekly garden services and short recovery stays in the Care Centre.
Bauman House
The Baumann House caters for those who require a bit more care, but are still
fundamentally healthy.
It offers: –
– 8 single rooms with private bathrooms
– 2 Rooms have been converted into accommodation for visitors
– A communal lounge and kitchenette are available. The communal verandah
overlooks an enclosed pool. The dining room is a short walk from Bauman House.
– The monthly rental includes all meals, laundry, all cleaning and a short recovery period in the Care Centre.
Care Centre
Love lives here! The Care Centre is for the frail, aged and Alzheimer patients, and includes: –
– 24 beds
– 24-hour care given by suitably qualified staff consisting of Sisters, Nurses and Care-
givers who love what they do.
– All meals, tea twice a day and laundry
– All rooms in the frail care are fitted with CCTV cameras
The Care Centre accommodates both Life Right members at no cost, as well as paying Non-Life Right members.
Activities & Outings
Roads and pathways allow residents to go for walks in the safety of the property enjoying the beautiful gardens and abundant birdlife along the way.
Lawns are maintained by a weekly garden service.
– Every Monday an exercise session is offered for the Care Centre and Bauman House residents.
– Every Wednesday there is a craft morning for the Care Centre and Bauman House
residents.
– On Wednesday afternoons a lady comes in to read to residents, either short stories,
interesting articles or snippets from the Reader’s Digest.
– A vegetable garden is in the process of being established for the avid gardeners at APN.
– A hairdresser comes every 7 weeks and is available for all residents at APN.
– A lady comes in on weekends to do pedicures.
– Weekly trips to the Kloof Village Spar Centre are offered.
– There is an English and German library for the avid reader.
– The Sunflower Room has a coffee station and is a place where pool and darts can be enjoyed. Once a month a quiz evening is held there.
– A sparkling swimming pool makes the hot summer months a breeze.
– Outings and cultural events are arranged from time to time.
– Church services are held at least twice a month, as well as Easter and Christmas singing.
Medical
– A medical doctor is available every Friday by appointment and for emergencies.
– There is weekly contact between the cottage residents and nursing staff to take
blood pressure, see to dressings and discuss general wellbeing of residents.
– An audiologist offers free hearing screenings once a month.
– Discovery Health Screenings are offered once a year.
